TOUR DESCRIPTION. The tour starts with a pickup by an air-conditioned minivan from your hotel in downtown Bangkok, leaving for Ayutthaya, and requires a full day.

Ayutthaya was one of the ancient capitals of Thailand and is a UNESCO World Heritage listed site. The magnificent ancient capital was founded in 1350 by King U-Thong, King of Siam, at the junction point of the Lopburi, the Prasak and the Chao Phraya Rivers. During its 417 years as the capital, 33 kings of 5 dynasties ruled the kingdom. These Siamese kings repelled many Burmese raids, but the city was finally sacked by the Burmese in 1767, closing this chapter in history.

There are some interesting options for getting around also – you can ride through the ruins atop an elephant, or take a ride in a horse-drawn cab.

TOUR PROGRAM CLASSIC AYUTTHAYA – TIME 08:00 – 16:00   

8.00 – Your tour guide will meet you in the Hotel lobby.

Pick up from your hotel

Depart by private vehicle to Ayutthaya province.

9.00 – Arrive at Bang Pa-In Summer Palace.

Visit the Summer Palace of the kings of Thailand which was built in a mix of Thai, Chinese and European styles.

11.30 – Depart to Ayutthaya Ancient Capital, the former Capital for over 417 years.  The ruin and the remains structure signify the prosperous era of Siam Kingdom.

12.30 – Buffet lunch at restaurant

13.15 -Visit:

¨ Wat Panang Cheng temple, built over 450 years before Ayutthaya became the Capital.

¨ Wat Yai Chai Mongkol, the great victory Temple, which commemorates the last elephant war between Thai and Burmese.

¨ Wat Maha That temple: Over 600 years old, it was the heart and soul of the Ayutthaya people.  It was almost completely destroyed by the Burmese during Thai-Burmese war.

16.00 – Return to Bangkok and transfer to your hotel. 

 

TOUR PROGRAM AYUTTHAYA CRUISE TOUR

8:00 Pick up at your hotel in Bangkok

9:00 to 9:15 Arrival at the summer palace of Bang Pa-In, officially Royal Palace of the Kingdom until the early seventeenth century. You will immediately see the pavilion in the lake: Aisawan Thipaya. This pavilion is located in the middle of the royal residences that you will visit just after the park: Uthayan Phusthian, Warophat Phiman, Wehart Chamrun, Saphakan Ratchprayun.

10:30 Arrival in Ayutthaya an Unesco world heritage city and historic city of Thailand. Visit to Wat Mahathat, Wat Phra Sri Sanphet and the Viharn Phra Mongkhon Bophit.

13:00 Boarding on the cruise that will cross over the “River of the Kings” and Nonthaburi province with its enchanting landscapes. During this tour sailing to Bangkok it will be served a sumptuous lunch buffet with international and  Thai cuisine.

15.00 Arrival of the cruise in Bangkok along the Chao Paya Thammasart universities, the Royal Palace in Bangkok and the Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun).

16:30 Arrival at the pier in Bangkok and transfer back to your hotel by minivan.

 

TOUR AYUTTHAYA + LOPBURI

ABOUT LOPBURI. Situated 150 kilometers north of Bangkok, Lopburi is one of the oldest cities in Thailand, dating back to the Dvaravati period when it was known as Lavo. The influence of the Khmer empire is particularly evident throughout the city, but it reached the peak of its commercial, cultural, and political importance when the seventeenth century Siamese King Narai made it his second capital. 

The ruins seen in Lopburi today are mainly from this era, including the large palace on the Lopburi River. Narai was also responsible for restoring many of the Khmer temples, as well as various monuments that he restored and transformed into Buddhist shrines. 

Today, hundreds of monkeys have made some of the major ruins of Lopburi their home. These macaques have become as much a part of the city as the ruins themselves, but it’s wise for visitors to stay on their guard as they will steal cameras, small bags, and, in particular, anything that remotely resembles food!

11:30 Visit the ancient square of Lopburi where local people and monkeys every day spend their life together.

TOUR BACKGROUND. The Ayutthaya historical park covers the ruins of the ancient city of Ayutthaya, once upon a time Capital of the Kingdom of Siam (that today is Thailand). Founded by King Ramathibodi I in 1350, Ayutthaya was the capital of the country until its destruction by the Burmese army in 1767.

In 1969, the Fine Arts Department began with renovations of the ruins, which became more serious after the place was declared an historical park from UNESCO in 1976. The park was declared a UNESCO World heritage site in 1991. The city was called “The City of Kings ” because 33 monarchs, including King Rama IV, governed from Ayutthaya.
