CHIANG MAI TEMPLES TOUR

TOUR DESCRIPTION. In this tour you will visit Chiang Mai, also known as “The Rose of the North” because of its beauty, but especially due to the discovery of its temples. The tour lasts half a day and includes a visit to some of the major temples in the city. However there are many other parts to visit, so you could stretch the tour to a full day because of the enormous variety and quantity of the temples. It starts from the hotel and will begin by visiting Wat Phra Singh, dating back to 1345 and the seventh king of Mengrai Dynasty; it is the most famous temple in Chiang Mai. The temple includes the beautiful Lai Kham chapel. We then move on to visit Wat Chedi Luang, built in 1391 by King Saen Muang Mai, and was made 90 meters high by King Tilokarat in 1454. But was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545, and now is only 60 meters high. The next leg of our journey leads us to Wat Suan Dok, built in the 14th century by a King of the Lanna Thai dynasty. The ancient bronze Buddha statue is 500 years old and is in the secondary chapel: It is one of Thailand’s biggest statues. Finally returning to the hotel.

CHIANG MAI, THE SACRED CITY

Why is Chiang Mai called the Sacred City? Well probably for the approximate three hundred temples that are in the “Rose of the North”, with almost half of them in the Ancient City.

But actually the name of the “Sacred City” of Chiang Mai was not earned solely for its approximate three hundred temples or even the fact that almost half of them are in the Ancient City, but above all thanks to the sunlit atmosphere that characterizes it, the infinite positive air that we breathe and the beautiful smiles on the faces of its inhabitants. A smile that can’t be anything else than the “Karma” of the three hundred temples in question. Or at least that is what folk law wants us to think.

The fact is that walking around Chiang Mai a bond between the temples and serenity arises. While you feel happy and light just as other travellers and tourists coming to the city, your eyes can do nothing but fix themselves on the temples until you get used to them and find perfect harmony with their colours and their warm and enveloping shapes. And it is this natural contact with the beauty and tranquillity of Buddhism that makes life special in Chiang Mai and merits it the label of Sacred City. It is the “sacred (or simply serene) atmosphere” which makes the city eternally special for those who live there but also for those who arrive on their travels.

We only employ safe and careful drivers and use the most modern and comfortable air conditioned minivan and coach. We will provide transport dependent on your group size as follows.

Group size 1-9 persons: modern minibus with air-conditioner 9 passenger seat format or modern and confortable pick up with air-conditioner (only for groups of 1-4 people).

Group size 10-13 persons: modern minibus with air-conditioner- 13 passenger seat format.
