Kanchanaburi is Thailand´s third largest of 76 provinces. It is located 130 km west of Bangkok and covers an area of 19,480 km². About 735,000 inhabitant are living in Kanchanaburi province which borders Myanmar (Burma) at the north-west.

Kanchanaburi Town has a population of 54,000 and was originally established by King Rama I as a first line of defence against the Burmese, who might use the old invasion route through the Three Pagodas Pass on the Thai-Myanmar border. It is situated on the River Kwai and the home of the famous Bridge on the River Kwai, immortalized in Pierre Boulle´s same named novel and David Lean’s movie. Every year in late November and early December the River Kwai Bridge Festival is held at the bridge with a spectacular Sound & Light Show. This event reminds to the history of the Death Railway and the bombardments during World War II.

The Province itself captivates beautiful nature and friendly people with their native charm. Major attractions include several waterfalls, mountains, caves (that were once inhabited by neolithic man), national parks and last, but not least, the River Kwai.

The unique Erawan Waterfalls with its seven levels set amongst rough jungle in the Erawan National Park are worth a visit and rank among the most beautiful falls in Asia.

Kanchanaburi features also 3 war museums, 2 war cemeteries, a national museum, a historical park, hot springs, some worth seeing Thai and Chinese temples and the one and only Death Railway and much more…

 

1 DAY CLASSIC TOUR KANCHANABURI – SAYOK WATERFALL AND RIVER KWAI

TOUR DESCRIPTION. This tour departs and returns from/to Bangkok on the same day, with tour guide and an air-conditioned minivan dedicated for the whole day. The tour begins with the hotel pickup from downtown Bangkok at 7.30 am.

First stop. Visit the cemetery of allied prisoners of war, who were among the many thousands who died while working on the construction of the Burma Death Railway during the Second World War.

The journey continues to the railway “Bridge on the River Kwai”, made famous by the movie of the same name.

Sayok landscape is rich of forests and mountains and full of natural attractions and historical places. There are some beautiful waterfalls (Sayok Yai and Sayok Noi) and a 700 year old historical park located.

 

CLASSIC TOUR PROGRAM

07.30 Hrs. Pick up from Bangkok Hotel and depart from Bangkok for Kanchanaburi Province in an air conditioned minivan with an English, Chinese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, French, Spanish, German, Korean, Japanese, Thai or Italian speaking tour guide. *KANCHANABURI ERAWAN NATIONAL PARK AND ERAWAN WATERFALLS TOUR

Erawan National Park is a 550 square kilometre park in western Thailand, located in the Tenasserim Hills, Kanchanaburi Province, Amphoe Si Sawat, in the Tambon Tha Kradan. Founded in 1975, it is Thailand’s 12th national park.  The major attraction of the park is Erawan Falls, a waterfall named after the Erawan, the three-headed white elephant of Hindu mythology. The seven-tiered falls are said to resemble the Erawan.

There are also four caves in the park: Mi, Rua, Wang Bahdan, and Phartat. This tour is perfect for those seeking peace and tranquility away from the frenetic pace of life in Bangkok. The tour begins with a walk through the tranquil wilderness of Erawan National Park. You will get to experience the true beauty of nature as you pass all seven of Erawan’s waterfalls on route to the top of the park where you will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views.

10:30 – Arrival to ERAWAN National Park and visit to the seven steps ERAWAN Waterfall, the most beautiful in the Western area of Thailand, for trekking up the 7 steps, swim, relax and enjoy the scenery of the National Park.

13:00 – Return to River Raft restaurant for lunch.

14:30 – Tour into a cave to see stalagmite, stalactite and limestone.

15.30 –  Trip back to Bangkok.

Day 1 FLOATING MARKET, BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, SAIYOK WATERFALLS

06.30 hrs. Pick up from your Hotel in Bangkok for the Floating Market Tour.

07.00 hrs. Depart from Bangkok for Richburg province.

08.30 hrs. Visit the brown sugar home industry and then on to the floating market tour.

09.00 hrs. Floating Market starts on Mae Klong River and connects to the Tacheen River where you will arrive.

09.30 hrs. Arrival at the floating market, where you can a find variety of produce including vegetables, meat, fish, handcrafts and souvenirs.

10.30 hrs. Leave the floating market for the handcraft factory.

12.00 hrs. International buffet lunch at the Kanchanaburi restaurant.

13.30 hrs. Arrival in the Kanchanaburi area, where you will visit the World War ll Museum and then on to the Bridge over the River Kwai.

14.30 hrs. Visit the Bridge on the river Kwai and the death railway.

16:00 hrs. Relax at SAI YOK NOI waterfall, where you can swim or indulge in the natural beauty of the waterfall,

17.00 hrs. Return to Rafts Restaurant to have dinner in local Thai style, with a selection of Thai cuisine.

18:30 hrs. Check in at Rafts House. Enjoy your free time for relaxing preparing yourself to stay overnight.

Day 2: KANCHANABURI – ERAWAN NATIONAL PARK – ERAWAN FALL 

08:00 AM. Breakfast at the River Raft Restaurant. 

09:00 AM.  Free time after the check out from River Raft House.

09:30 AM. Depart to ERAWAN National Park via air conditioned minivan, with an English, Chinese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, French, Spanish, German, Korean, Japanese, Thai or Italian speaking tour guide.
